Community Wellness

As a resident, and as a council member, I champion immediate action to support the resilience and basic dignity of our community members as Palo Alto strives to emerge from this pandemic safely and quickly. We must also support the local economy with programs for businesses and employees.

Prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Ensure that free, high-quality masks are available to all who live in, work in, and visit Palo Alto.

  • Provide easy, anonymous access to free local testing with fast results to prevent additional outbreaks.

  • Ensure safe and reliable childcare is available for essential workers.

Emerge from this pandemic safely and quickly

  • Protect housing stability to prevent a surge of homelessness during the pandemic.

  • Extend and reinforce COVID-related protections for tenants and homeowners.

  • Support funding and coordination of food support for those struggling with food insecurity.

Ensure economic wellness and support for small businesses

  • Strengthen the local economy with financial support programs for businesses and employees.

  • Prioritize programs that support our business districts, such as Summer Streets and parklets, so that these employers are able to stay in business as valuable members of our community.

  • Expedite permits for socially distant events to promote shopping locally.

Provide for the community’s well-being during the pandemic

  • Expand the Shared Streets program as a way to support social distancing in more neighborhoods throughout Palo Alto.

  • Offer socially distant exercise programming and recreational activities, as well as mobile health outreach.

  • Offer mental health wellness programs to combat isolation and prevent our residents from falling through cracks or suffering costly health crises.

  • Prevent COVID-19 related housing insecurity by providing connections to resources that can help delay or prevent foreclosures and evictions in the midst of the pandemic.
